Couple explains 'How We Made It' Jul 19

Jamie Kratz-Gullickson was intrigued by a project in Sweden that used video games to raise money for charities. Frustrated by failed efforts to acquire a machine, she put her head together with husband Jason Gullickson. They designed and built Donor 1, which currently sits inside the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio.

Learn to make Cornish saffron bread Jul 18

Cornish saffron bread is a sweet, fragrant fruit bread seasoned with the delicate flavor of saffron. Coming from the south of England, it’s no wonder it’s perfect with a cup of tea. The monthly Breads of the World demonstration program at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio will feature Cornish saffron bread at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 18.

Uke Club meets Jul 1

The informal, drop-in Fond du Lac Ukulele Club will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The club is a fun get-together for uke players of all ages and skill levels to learn songs, practice and share. The program is free; no registration required. Players are encouraged to bring their own instruments.

Relax with Mandala Stones Jul 26


The contemplative art of creating mandalas is said to be therapeutic. Mandalas can be thought of as circles within circles; they represent the cosmos, the self and unity.

Library offers wireless printing

The Fond du Lac Public Library now offers wireless printing to its public printers on the second floor. Documents can be sent from mobile devices, from home or office computers or emailed directly to the printer.

Copies are 15 cents a page for black and white; 35 cents a page for color.

'Lovely Trees' exhibit Jun 7-Jul 5

As spring turns to summer, the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Langdon Divers Gallery will celebrate the greening of the landscape with Lovely Trees, a themed exhibit, June 7 to July 5. The show, organized by gallery curator Mel Kolstad, is the result of a public call to art.

More than 40 artists submitted pieces in a variety of media.

'When I'm 65' Jun 28

Retirement can be a great time of life, but understanding the intricacies of the paperwork can cause headaches. The Fond du Lac Public Library is offering a free class, “When I’m 65,” at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 28.

Presented by Julie Hilbert, senior benefit specialist from the Fond du Lac County Dept. of Senior Services, the class will provide information on insurance, Medicare, Medicare Part B and Social Security.

The class is free. Registration is recommended at the Calendar. Walk-ins are welcome.
