Upcycled Glam winner will get iPad

What do you get when you combine creative teens, a bit of glitz and the art of upcycling? If you’re really good, you get a new iPad.

The Fond du Lac Public Library has launched Upcycled Glam, a contest that challenges teens to create a special-occasion outfit that uses a combination of upcycled clothing and upcycled pages from books or magazines. The contest doesn’t end until spring, giving teens plenty of time to design and craft their creations.

Upcycled Glam is open to middle school and high school students, including home-school students, in Fond du Lac County. Entries are due no later than April 1, 2014. The creations will be judged by a VIP panel on the basis of overall design (40 percent); use of upcycled book or magazine pages (25 percent); cost, the lower the better (20 percent); and creativity (15 percent).

Entries will be put on display in the library’s Langdon Divers Gallery through the month of May. The winner will receive a new, latest-model iPad and will be featured in press releases, social media and the library’s website.
