Memory Cafe celebrates celebrations Feb 23

Persons with early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia, their caregivers and family members are invited to monthly Alzheimer’s Association Memory Cafés held at 1 p.m. the fourth Thursday of the month at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The programs are free; no registration required. Each month features a new theme:

'Big History' series looks at overlooked America

Dr. Rick Whaley and Herman Bender return to the Fond du Lac Public Library for Big History of Overlooked America: First People to the Civil War, a series of eight weekly presentations starting at 6 p.m. February 1. The duo’s entertaining and thought-provoking presentations will involve great deal of show and tell involving artifacts from Bender’s personal collection.

Feb is for lovers (of bargains) at Chapter 52

The Fond du Lac Public Library’s Chapter 52 Bookstore will throw some love at bargain hunters with sales in February, including:

Breads of the World travels to Ireland Feb 21

In plenty of time for St. Patty’s Day party planning, the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Breads of the World series will offer Irish soda bread at 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, in the Idea Studio demonstration kitchen. The class is free; registration is required.

Easy exercises at home Mar 9

The Fond du Lac Public Library, with help from its friends, will provide guidance, support and tips needed to make 2017 a great year with its Fresh Start series at 1 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month through April. All Fresh Start programs will be held in the library’s Idea Studio in the lower level. All are free; no registration required.

2-part T-shirt quilt class Feb 23, Mar 9

In a two-part class, beginning sewers will learn how to make a quilted blanket using T-shirts and fleece fabric at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s makerspace, the Idea Studio.

Share parade photos at FDL Picture Show Feb. 16

The Fond du Lac Public Library’s popular History at Home series on February 16 will feature the start of a new, quarterly event for 2017: Fond du Lac Picture Shows. At 2 p.m. and repeated at 6 p.m., Tracy Reinhardt of the Fond du Lac County Historical Society will share a slideshow of archival photos of the great parades in the area’s past.

Feb 18 crafters to use alcohol ink to paint glasses

Using special vibrant inks, crafters at the 1 p.m. Saturday, February 19, Crafternoon class will make a beautiful watercolor-inspired alcohol-ink glass. The free program will be held in the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio. All supplies provided.

Understanding Your Credit Report Feb 2

Do you know what your credit report is saying about you right now? You should, and you can find out, for free. Understanding Your Credit Report will be offered at 6 p.m. Thursday, February 2, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The program is free; no registration required.
