Drugs, alcohol and domestic violence July 20

Agnesian HealthCare’s monthly domestic violence awareness program, Shine On Sessions, will examine “Drugs, Alcohol and Domestic Violence” at 6 p.m. Monday, July 20, at Fond du Lac Public Library. The program is free; no registration required.

The session, facilitated by Amy Rodriguez, Agnesian HealthCare's Domestic Violence Program prevention educator, will take a closer look at how drugs and alcohol are used in violent relationships.

In addition to working with Agnesian HealthCare, Rodriguez is a forensic interviewer with the Child Advocacy Center in Neenah and is co-chair for the Prevention Education Committee (a subcommittee with Community Coordinated Response Team).

Shine On Sessions are held the third Monday of every month from 6-7 p.m. and highlight a different focus with a goal ending violence in homes. Sessions coming up:

  • August 17: Interventions for Victims of Domestic Violence, an overview of services and safety planning available for victims of domestic violence.
  • September 21: Teen Dating Violence, information about the dynamics of a violent relationship and warning signs.
  • October 19: Domestic Violence Awareness. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This session will review the dynamics of domestic violence, warning signs and why those in relationships struggle in leaving.
