'Bloody' author at Chapter 52 June 4

Her fixation on a particular drink has driven Susan Fiebig on a hunt that has covered thousands of miles and into establishments of every stripe for more than 14 years. It also has produced two lively travel guides, The Bloody Trail: In Quest of the Best Wisconsin Bloody Marys and her new sequel, Adventures on the Bloody Trail: The Quest Continues. Fiebig will sell and sign copies of her books from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at Chapter 52 Bookstore, 52 Sheboygan St., Fond du Lac.

Both books detail the history of the Bloody Mary and examine exactly what makes a great Bloody Mary, according to the author’s own 50-point criteria. Along the road, in her quest, Fiebig met fellow obsessives, colorful barkeeps and enterprising Bloody Mary entrepreneurs. Each book delivers a guide to 10 great Marys in the state and how to find them, including three in Fond du Lac.

Before her quests, Fiebig was for many years the volunteer curator of the library’s Langdon Divers Gallery. She owned a bed and breakfast and an art gallery, and created a 50-photograph collection of downtown Fond du Lac, Our Town: A Photographic Journey. She continues creating collage art and currently is writing her memoir.
