Looking for a fresh start in 2017?
For most of us, New Year’s resolutions are easier said than done. The Fond du Lac Public Library, with a little help from its friends, will provide guidance, support and tips needed to make 2017 a great year with its Fresh Start series, January through April, at 1 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month. All Fresh Start programs will be held in the library’s Idea Studio in the lower level. All are free; no registration required.
- January 12: Let’s Get Organized. Karl Meyer will explore “right sizing,” the art of
decluttering that takes a systemic review of personal possessions. Determine what’s truly important as the discussion focuses on coming to terms with how life changes and how decluttering can make a positive difference. Sponsored by Lake View Place.
- February 9: Better Dinners with Meal Prep. Whether cooking for one or a crowd, a little preparation can save a lot of time and money. Dietitian Mary Houser of ManorCare Health Services will offer easy tips to get dinner on the table faster during the week. Learn about pantry and freezer staples and quick and healthy 30-minute meal recipes. With samples.
- March 9: Easy Exercises at Home. Learn how to use those everyday moments – during a commercial break or standing at the sink – to gain strength and improve balance without leaving home or spending a dime. Learn basic tips to improve overall health. Presented by physical therapist Stephanie Landis of Generations Home Care & Hospice.
- April 13: Dial Back the Stress. Heather Schmidt, DO, an Agnesian HealthCare family medicine provider and health and wellness medical director, will share ways to relieve and manage stress through tips and techniques that will help individuals thrive in everyday life, build happiness and grow with life’s challenges.
