Antique photos in gallery Feb 1-28

It began with Civil War re-enactments and the collection of Civil War artifacts. Then Richard and Gloria Schroeder began zeroing in on antique photos, ultimately developing a passion. Their collection today represents countless hours scouring antique stores and the internet, amassing images themselves and the stories behind them. These fascinating glimpses into American history will be on display in the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Langdon Divers Gallery February 1-28.

A public reception will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 9, in the gallery. Refreshments will be served. No registration required.

The collection includes photos on tintype (metal), daguerreotype (polished silver), ambrotype (glass), milk glass and paper. Along with the images, the Schroeders’ display will include the ornate cases that house them.

The library gallery is curated by artist Mel Kolstad, who can be contacted at [email protected].
