Brainiacs unite! Time to register for Team Trivia
Basketball genius Michael Jordan once said, “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.”
He could have been referring to the Ledgers for Literacy team. Its formidable combination of smarts and teamwork has stomped Team Trivia competitors for the last two years. Last year they took home the big prize: free entry to defend their title at the 17th annual Team Trivia, March 7 and March 9, at Whispering Springs Golf Club. The event is a fundraiser for Fond du Lac Literacy Services.
Anyone can play Team Trivia, where teams will face questions on music, movies, history, sports, literature, geography, science and Wisconsin. At the end of the game, scores are tallied and awards are given to the top three teams. The first-place team on March 7 will be invited back to compete – for free – on March 9. And the first-place team on March 9 will be invited back, for free, to next year’s competition.
Team registration is $100. The event includes a cash bar and optional Pulled Pork Sandwich buffet dinner for an extra $15. Sign-in and dinner start at 5 p.m., and the quizzing begins at 6:30 p.m.
Fond du Lac Literacy Services is a non-profit organization that helps adults with the basic skills needed to learn and prosper in the 21st century: reading, writing and mathematics. Trained tutors provide free, one-on-one instruction. It’s estimated that eight percent, or 6,000 adults, in Fond du Lac County read below the sixth grade level. The Literacy office is located on the second floor of the Fond du Lac Public Library.
