Learn to make mozzarella, ricotta Apr 12

You live in Wisconsin: cheese is in your DNA, so why not make your own?

The Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio demonstration kitchen will offer two classes, Home Cheese Making: Mozzarella and Ricotta, at 1:30 p.m. and repeated at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 12. Each class will teach both cheeses, and cost $3 per person for supplies; the classes are open to adults and teens 13 and older. Veteran home cheese maker Linda Conroy will lead this fun workshop. She’ll teach the basic concepts of cheese making, and participants will make ricotta, a simple quick mozzarella and enjoy samples.

Conroy, an herbalist, is founder of Moonwise Herbs and the Midwest Women’s Herbal Conference. She has apprenticed with and studied with world-renowned herbalists, and she has offered workshops and apprenticeship programs for two decades. Conroy says she’s inspired by plants and the feminine; her passion is herbal nourishment through community, wild food and wild medicine.

The Idea Studio is the library’s makerspace, a permanent do-it-yourself zone in the lower level with equipment to use for free and DIY programming. The Idea Studio is open 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
