Library's long-dormant 1904 clock wakes up

An antique grandfather clock – sitting dormant for years at the Fond du Lac Public Library – got a gentle jolt back to life this winter. The stately clock sits near the fireplace on the first floor. When crews moved the clock to make way for new carpet earlier this year, something magical happened. It came back to life.

Explore oregano at May 15 Flavors of the World

Fond du Lac Public Library’s monthly Flavors of the World program will focus on the versatile herb oregano at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, in the Idea Studio. The program is free and open to adults and teens 13 and older. Registration is required and begins at 9:30 a.m.

The drop-in Yarn Crafters group will meet at 6 p.m. Thursdays May 10 and May 24 at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Hand-sewers’ group meets May 23

The Fond du Lac Public Library hosts a monthly casual gathering of people interested in hand-sewing projects, From Our Hands. The group will meet from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, and will meet every fourth Wednesday of the month at the same time. Sewers of all skill levels are invited. Free. No registration.

Memory Café celebrates wordplay May 24

Persons with early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia, their caregivers and family members are invited to monthly Alzheimer’s Association Memory Cafés held at 1 p.m. the fourth Thursday of the month at the Fond du Lac Public Library.
