FDL Picture Show: Church and School Aug 17

The Fond du Lac Public Library’s popular History at Home series on August 17 will feature the third installment of the quarterly Fond du Lac Picture Shows. At 2 p.m. and repeated at 6 p.m., Tracy Reinhardt of the Fond du Lac County Historical Society will share a slideshow of historical photos of area churches and schools.

In addition, attendees are invited to bring their own church and school photos to the presentations. Historical Society personnel will scan the photos and return them to their owners on the spot. The scanned digital images will be added to the society’s collection, for posterity.

Church and School will be followed by the final Picture Show of the year on November 16, when Reinhardt will feature Let’s Go Downtown, sharing photos of Fond du Lac’s heyday as the regional retail mecca. Attendees will be encouraged to bring family photos of shops, shopping and downtown outings.

“Digital technology allows us to share our histories without having to give anything up,” Reinhardt said. “For generations to come, our community will benefit.”

The Fond du Lac Public Library supports a high quality of life in Fond du Lac through reading, lifelong learning and community involvement. There are two locations: the Main Library downtown at 32 Sheboygan St., and FDLPL Express near Festival Foods at Highways 23 and 151. For more information, visit www.fdlpl.org.

In the photo: Do you know this school? Tracy Reinhardt of the Fond du Lac County Historical Society hopes someone who attends her Church and School Fond du Lac Picture Shows Aug 17 will recognize the building.
