Learn to use serger, make pillowcase Aug 31

Learn a great back-to-school project – a three-color standard-size pillowcase – while getting trained on the serger at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio at 4 p.m. Thursday, August 31. The class is open to adults and teens age 13 and older. The class is free, but attendees are required to bring their own fabric. Registration is required and begins at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 17, at the Calendar.

Details about fabrics needed for the project are available at the Calendar and in a handout available now at the Idea Studio. Sergers are specialized sewing machines that use multiple needles to create finished and trimmed seams.

The Idea Studio makerspace is permanent do-it-yourself zone in the library’s lower level with equipment to use for free and DIY programming. Summer hours run through September 1: 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. More information is available at www.fdlpl.org/ideastudio or by calling (920) 322-3946 during studio open hours.
