Oct 26 Memory Café visits old-time radio days

Persons with early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia, their caregivers and family members are invited to monthly Alzheimer’s Association Memory Cafés held at 1 p.m. usually on the fourth Thursday of the month at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The programs are free; no registration required. Each month features a new theme:

  • October 26: Old Time Radio. We’ll travel back in time to listen to some favorites, including Jack Benny, “Gunsmoke,” “Dragnet,” “Our Miss Brooks,” “An Evening with Groucho” and “Life of Riley,” to name a few. We’ll try our talent and become the characters for our own mini-radio program.
  • November 16 (note date change): You’ve Got a Friend in Me will celebrate caregivers for the impact they have in the lives of people with Alzheimer’s. Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease teaches us many great unexpected lessons that leave a lasting impression.
  • December 14 (note date change): Man’s Best Friend. Dogs, cats, fish, birds? Who have you shared your love with? Photos and stories of favorite pets are welcome. We’ll give our mind a workout developing a story in Once Upon a Story Time.

Memory Cafés are sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association; Legacies: Family and Organizational Historians; and the Fond du Lac Public Library. For more information about Memory Cafés or Alzheimer's disease, contact the Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline at (800) 272-3900.
