How to convert bicycle to pedal-free Nov 7

Sometimes, when the load is heavy, the hills steep or the route especially long, bicycle riders may feel the need for a little boost. Enter the motorized bicycle, also known as e-bike and pedal-free.

Avid cyclist and retired math professor John McDowell will demonstrate how to install a kit to convert a regular bicycle or adult tricycle into an e-bike at 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio. The program is free; no registration required.

McDowell will have converted bikes on display and will demonstrate how to install an LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) conversion kit, which uses lightweight lithium-ion batteries. There will be plenty of time for questions.
