Santa, gingerbread & more for kids in Dec

As everyone knows, Santa and Mrs. Claus love to read, so nobody’s surprised that the duo’s making a stop at the Fond du Lac Public Library. Their visit is just one of the great events for kids at the library in December. All programs are free. Only one requires registration. For all, children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult:

  • Half-Day Party 1-3:30 p.m. Friday, December 1: For kids ages 6-12. Watch The Lego Batman Movie (PG), play bingo and enjoy snacks. No registration required.
  • Letters to Santa, through 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 6. Kids who drop off a letter to Santa will receive a hand-written reply. Forms available at the Children’s Desk, or kids can write their own letters. No postage required.
  • Visit Santa and Mrs. Claus 4:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 6. The jolly couple will be back for free photos, fun crafts and a free holiday book, Tracks in the Snow, by Wong Herbert Yee, for every family to take home. No registration.
  • Gingerbread Decorating Party 10 a.m. and repeated at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 16. For kids ages 4-12. Bring one bag of candy to share and decorate a gingerbread house to take home. Registration is required and starts at 9 a.m. Monday, December 4, at the Calendar, or by calling the Children’s Desk at (920) 322-3940.
  • Full STEAM Ahead 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, December 29. For kids ages 8-12 and their families. Just drop in to build and experiment. Activities include creating a Lego balloon car, building stacked-cup and cardboard towers and making tools to solve a problem. No registration.

All library locations are closed Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s Day. For more information, visit or call the Children’s Desk at (920) 322-3940.
