‘Blast Off: Intro to Robotics’ Apr 3

Kids in grades 4-9 are invited to Blast Off: Intro to Robotics at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 3. The program is free. Space is limited. Registration starts March 20 at the Calendar.

Using robots provided during the session, each participant will get hands-on experience making a robot move, use sensors and succeed at tasks, earning points for each challenge completed. Attendees should have basic computer skills, such as mouse and keyboarding.

The program is headed up by John Papenheim, owner of Papenheim’s Signcrafters, founder of roboticsisfun.com and Fondy Heat youth robotics. A longtime amateur inventor/maker (or “mad scientist” if you saw his basement), Papenheim also has been an instructor at numerous youth robotics camps and workshops.

The Idea Studio makerspace is a permanent do-it-yourself zone in the lower level with equipment to use for free and DIY programming. The Idea Studio is open 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. More information is available at www.fdlpl.org/ideastudio and on the studio’s Facebook and Instagram pages, found at Idea Studio FDLPL.
