‘Wisconsin Remembers’ panels Apr 30-May 5

Wisconsin Remembers: A Face for Every Name, a display of 17 panels that put faces to the names of Wisconsinites listed on the Vietnam Wall, will be at the Fond du Lac Public Library April 30 to May 5.

The traveling exhibit, a project of Wisconsin Public Radio, Wisconsin Public Television and the Wisconsin Veterans Museum, features a photo for each of the 1,161 Wisconsinites officially listed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The exhibit also includes additional photos for names that are listed on The Highground Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Neillsville, WI. Wisconsin Remembers is a tribute to lost life and lost potential.

The exhibit’s visit to Fond du Lac is project of the South Shore Chorale, which will perform its spring concert, An American Salute, at the Fond du Lac High Performing Arts Center on Saturday, April 28. The Wisconsin Remembers panels will be on display at the concert as well as at the high school in days leading up to the concert.

The Wisconsin Remembers project is the culmination of an eight-year effort. Photos were submitted by friends, family members, students, teachers and others who wanted to help tell the stories of the men and women who are listed on the wall. The effort is connected to the new Education Center at the Wall in Washington, D.C. Wisconsin was the fifth state to find a photo for every resident listed on the wall.
