My Hometown historians meet Apr 11

Historians Dr. Rick Whaley and Herman Bender invite the public to learn about their grassroots, community-based historical research project, My Hometown, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. Free. No registration.

Local amateur historians working on My Hometown research projects will share updates and new developments since their last meeting. As well, the Whaley and Bender want to get the community’s input on themes and projects the group can pursue.

Whaley retired in 2015 after 43 years of teaching, with the last 22 years in Marian University’s History Dept., where he taught American history, geography and American government.

Bender is an independent researcher, writer, editor, geologist and historian whose work has been published in the fields of history, cultural landscapes and Native American studies.
