Uke Club meets May 5

The informal, drop-in Fond du Lac Ukulele Club will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The club is a fun get-together for uke players of all ages and skill levels to learn songs, practice and share. The program is free; no registration required. Players are encouraged to bring their own instruments. There will be a limited number of ukes available to borrow during the meeting.

 

Idea Studio DIY programs in May

Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio is permanent do-it-yourself zone in the library’s lower level with equipment to use for free and DIY programming for adults and teens age 13 and older. The program lineup for May is:

Girls' Code Camp

Learn just how cool, fun and powerful coding can be at the first of three Girls Coding Camps 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, June 22, at the Fond du Lac Public Library's Idea Studio. The session, for 6-12 graders, is free; lunch will be provided.

Cattails and reeds are integral to marshland beauty, but some of those species actually are invasive, creating an unfriendly habitat to native plants and animals.

Library's long-dormant 1904 clock wakes up

An antique grandfather clock – sitting dormant for years at the Fond du Lac Public Library – got a gentle jolt back to life this winter. The stately clock sits near the fireplace on the first floor. When crews moved the clock to make way for new carpet earlier this year, something magical happened. It came back to life.

Explore oregano at May 15 Flavors of the World

Fond du Lac Public Library’s monthly Flavors of the World program will focus on the versatile herb oregano at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, in the Idea Studio. The program is free and open to adults and teens 13 and older. Registration is required and begins at 9:30 a.m.

Yarn Crafters meet May 10, 24

The drop-in Yarn Crafters group will meet at 6 p.m. Thursdays May 10 and May 24 at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Hand-sewers’ group meets May 23

The Fond du Lac Public Library hosts a monthly casual gathering of people interested in hand-sewing projects, From Our Hands. The group will meet from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, and will meet every fourth Wednesday of the month at the same time. Sewers of all skill levels are invited. Free. No registration.
