Fall 2023

Fall Design Lab sessions at the Idea Studio were a FREE series of 10 workshops, 5 of which center on the concept of Design Thinking, and the rest will be Arts integrated STEM workshops presented by local community artists related to solving a real world problem. Workshops were held on Satuday mornings in the months of September, October, November, and December. 

Dates were as follows:

Each session started at 8:45am and ended at 11:45am. Students were dropped off at the library as early as 8:30am.

We served traditionally repressed / ignored students in the Fond du Lac School District who are in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade with a particular focus on students who identify as coming from low income households.

Summer 2023

The Summer Design Lab at the Idea Studio was a FREE one week arts integrated STEAM summer camp presented collaboratively by Fond du Lac Public Library and The Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts. We will served 12-18 students per session who were entering 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade and were enrolled in the Fond du Lac School District for the 2023-2024 school year.

The goals of The Design Lab are to develop our community's capacity to create and sustain high-quality, engaging, and equitable STEAM programs for underrepresented students with the long term goal being to close the opportunity gap in our community and build arts integrated educational pathways for a more creative and diverse workforce. We'll work with educators and students on self and social awareness and through design thinking.

Design Lab Summer 2023 dates were:

June 19 - June 23

July 10 - July 14

July 24 - July 28

August 21 - August 25

Each student may participated in one of those summer camps.

 

A typical day at Design Lab may look like:

8:30 - 8:55am - Check in at the Fond du Lac Public Library

9:00am - Workshops begin

10:30am - Break

12:00pm - Lunch

12:45pm - Workshops begin

1:45pm - Break

3:30pm - Students can be picked up at the Fond du Lac Public Library

Spring 2023

Dates were as follows: Oct 15th, Oct 22nd, Nov 12th, Nov 19th, and Dec 10th. Each session started at 8:30am and ended at 11:30am. Students can be dropped off at the library as early as 8:15am.

Summer 2022

The Summer Design Lab at the Idea Studio was a FREE one week arts integrated STEAM summer camp presented collaboratively by Fond du Lac Public Library and The Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts. We served 49 students who are now entering 4th and 5th grade and are enrolled in the Fond du Lac School District or the 2022-2023 school year.
