September is Library Card Sign-up Month
Something to consider: In a county of more than 100,000, more than 27,000 people have accounts at the Fond du Lac Public Library, a number that grows by about 200 every month.
These people know that their local library is a vibrant community center. Along with free books, audiobooks, movies, music, magazines and digital e-books and e-audiobooks, the library has a long list of cool equipment available for borrowing: tech toys, electronics, AV equipment, cake pans, outdoor party games and even bike locks. It has the Idea Studio, makerspace with equipment like CNC cutters and 3-D printers to use for free. An art gallery. Free databases for genealogy research, business marketing and lots more. Online tutorials and study guides. And a dynamic schedule of free programs on everything from using a laser cutter to Storytimes to local history.
September is Library Card Sign-up Month. Stop by either the Main Library or FDLPL Express branch, near Festival Foods, to open an account, no charge. It takes just a few minutes. Bring proof of current address (like a driver’s license or state ID). Kids under 16 require a parent’s signature. And, through September, replace a lost library card for free.
