  • Registration starts Oct 3: Cake Decorating Basics, 6 p.m. Thursday, October 17, at the Fond du Lac Public Library Idea Studio, 32 Sheboygan St. For adults and teens 13 and older; younger children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Learn surprisingly simple ways to turn cakes and cupcakes into showpieces from instructor Penny Serwe of North Fond du Lac. Free.   • Registration starts Oct 10: Hemmed Napkins with Serger (shown at left), 6 p.m. Thursday, October 24, at the Fond du Lac Public Library Idea Studio, 32 Sheboygan St. For adults and teens 13 and older; younger children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Learn how to use the serger to add a professional-looking hem to cloth napkins. Participants should bring fabric from home to make up to six napkins (one yard will make four 18x18 napkins). The fabric should be tight-weave, washable cotton, cotton blend or linen. Free.
