Lorri Bohn from ADVOCAP’s Head Start will talk about the unique program at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Community Chat program 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13. The program is free. No registration required.

Head Start is a 55-year-old federal program that promotes school readiness for children ages 3 to 5 from low-income families by enhancing their cognitive, social and emotional development.

Bohn will talk about what Head Start does and how families can participate. There will be plenty of time for questions.

As Family Engagement manager, Bohn helps parents understand and enroll their children in Head Start. She has 20 years of professional experience in the human service field as well as seven years of experience providing training on mindfulness “self regulation” to local organizations, businesses and schools.

The library’s Community Chat programs give residents opportunities to hear directly from local government and nonprofit organizations. Representatives share information about costs, goals, accomplishments and more.
