The Fond du Lac Public Library will be introducing Summer Sundays while expanding the hours the building is open starting in May.

Starting May 1, customers may enter the building Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 8 pm, Friday from 9 am to 6 pm, Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm and Sunday from noon to 4 pm. Curbside service will remain available for users who prefer this option.

Recognizing the fact that many patrons have been seeking more opportunities to enter the library, the Fond du Lac Public Library is introducing Summer Sundays at FDLPL. Though the library normally closes on Sundays during the warm months, it will remain open Sundays in 2021 to give patrons greater access than ever before to the library.

“Opening the Fond du Lac Public Library on Sundays this summer will provide greater access to our books, DVDs, internet computers and more,” Library Director Jon Mark Bolthouse said. “Combined with our curbside pickup on Portland Street option, this will allow the greatest number of community members a chance to reach needed resources following a difficult year.”

Visitors will continue to be asked to practice social distancing, in addition to continuing other safety protocols.

Most computers will be available without an appointment starting in May, though tax computers and some services at the Idea Studio will be offered in-person by appointment. Certain meeting rooms, such as the McLane Room, will be available for limited use.

Fond du Lac Public Library operates two locations: the Main Library at 32 Sheboygan St. in downtown Fond du Lac, and FDLPL Express at 1132 E. Johnson St. near Festival Foods.

Chapter 52 Bookstore also will return to its regular hours in May. It will be open Monday through Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m., as well as Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 52 Sheboygan St.
