A haunting close-up of a flower in full bloom moved judges to select it as Best in Show for the seventh-annual Teen Photo Contest at the Fond du Lac Public Library. This striking black-and-white image was taken by 18-year-old Madalyn Abitz, who earned a $250 gift card for taking the top spot. She is a senior at Wisconsin Virtual Academy.

Her entry was one of 113 from teens across Fond du Lac County that were sent to the Fond du Lac Public Library during the month of March. Teens could enter in one of three categories: Inside My World, Outside My Door and Anything Goes. Earning Honorable Mention awards in those categories were:

  • Inside My World: Claire Knowles, 13, grade 7 at Shepherd of the Hills
  • Outside My Door: Abby Oehmcke, 16, junior at Laconia High School
  • Anything Goes: Katherine Davies, 18, senior at Winnebago Lutheran Academy

All four winners will receive their photographs professionally framed, courtesy Gallery & Frame Shop. All entries also will be displayed on the Langdon Divers Community Gallery Facebook page, which may be reached at facebook.com/langdondivers.

All entries in the contest may be viewed in a slideshow (click link).

Contest judges were outgoing Fond du Lac City Council President Brian Kolstad and professional photographers Casey French and Casey Fiebig.
