Community invited to ribbon-cutting at new Hope on the Block cabinet
The founding partners of Fond du Lac’s first after-hours resource for those in need or experiencing homelessness will hold a ribbon cutting, open house, and collection drive on Saturday, Oct. 22.
The public is invited to join the event from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the north entrance to the Fond du Lac Public Library, 32 Sheboygan St., where Hope on the Block installed its first cabinet earlier this fall. This cabinet provides essential supplies to help an individual get through a night, when other agencies have closed for the day and the community’s shelter is full. Supplies available include hygiene kits, COVID tests and more.
Many within the Fond du Lac community regularly find themselves without basic supplies and housing. As of September, 116 adults and 63 families without a permanent address have been identified in Fond du Lac. The cabinet provided by Hope on the Block aims to help such individuals get through a difficult night.
Welcome the cabinet to the community on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m., as Hope on the Block celebrates National Make a Difference Day with the ribbon-cutting ceremony. RSVP is not required, but appreciated, and can be made by clicking here.
Guests also are invited to support the work of Hope on the Block by bringing a “house-warming” gift. To view a wish list, visit hopeontheblockfdl.com/donate
Founding members of Hope on the Block include the Fond du Lac Public Library, Fond du Lac Fire & Rescue, Fond du Lac County Health Department, the Salvation Army of Fond du Lac, and Sustain Fond du Lac.
