Painter Edita Birschbach brings the love of her former home, the Czech Republic, to the Langdon Divers Gallery January 2 to February 5 in her show, Flora and Fauna of Central Europe.

The public is invited to an artist’s reception 2-4 p.m. Saturday, January 5, at the gallery. Refreshments will be served. The reception is free; no registration required.

Birschbach, who has lived in the United States for 20 years, paints her “unruly flowers” to fill the hours.

“I love to watch chipper comedies and cozy mysteries, yet they can never engage my whole person,” she said. “So as I diligently sit in front of TV, I can either paint or eat for hours on end. Since I don’t wish to end up in a food coma every day, the choice is simple.”

The Langdon Divers Gallery’s volunteer curator is local artist Mel Kolstad, who can be contacted at mel@kolstad.net. For more information, visit the gallery’s Facebook page at facebook.com/langdondivers.
