You, too, can have a bit of the wilderness in your own back yard. Learn how at the hands-on workshop, Urban Wildlife Workshop: Manage Wildlife in Your Yard, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, November 3, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. Refreshments will be served. The program is free. Registration is appreciated but not required at the Calendar.

Participants will learn how to create, enhance and manage habitats in urban and suburban areas to attract wildlife. They’ll learn how to identify common urban wildlife species, how to beautify their yards with native flowers, how to develop a backyard wildlife management plan and how to manage wildlife damage. 

The workshop will be presented by David Drake, UW-Extension wildlife specialist and professor in the UW-Madison department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology. The workshop is sponsored by Fond du Lac County Audubon Society, Gottfried Arboretum and UW-Extension.
