Talented women have contributed to America for generations. Celebrate their achievements in the Children’s Room of the Fond du Lac Public Library during Women’s History Month.

Masks are required for participation in these and all other programs at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Women’s History Month events include:

  • Tuesday, March 8 at 4 p.m. in the McLane Room: Celebrate the accomplishments of women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) by learning about their lives with hands-on activities. Recommended for ages 5 and up. No registration required.
  • Wednesday, March 16 at 4 p.m. in the McLane Room:  Create artwork in the style of accomplished women artists throughout history! Best for children ages 5 and up. No registration required.
  • All month long: Celebrate both Women’s History Month and Youth Art Month by creating a work of art showing the women who inspire you. Artwork will be displayed in the Children’s Library throughout the month.

Need a spa day or have a stuffed animal that needs a little pampering? Youth Services has some great events for March for kids and their favorite stuffed animals to feel special::

  • Friday, March 25 beginning at 5 p.m. in the McLane Room: Let your favorite stuffed friend have some fun in the library after hours during our Stuffed Animal Sleepover! Drop your friend off on Friday and help us get them ready for the sleepover with some activities, stories, and more! Then, Saturday at 9:30 a.m., pick up your friend and find out about all the fun they had. Registration is required; registration opens Friday, March 11 at 9 a.m. Space is limited.
  • Tuesday, March 29 at 2 p.m. in the Mid-States Room: Relax this spring break by making your own spa essentials! Recommended for ages 7 and up. Registration required; registration opens Tuesday, March 15 at 9 a.m. Space is limited.

Also scheduled for March are:

  • Kit of the Month: Stop by the library starting March 1 to pick up this month’s free kit: Pipe Cleaner Superheroes. Supplies are limited; one kit per child.
  • Paint-Along - Saturday, March 12 at 2 p.m. in the McLane Room: Try your hand at painting a colorful lion as Miss Katie takes you through painting it step-by-step. Wear clothing that can get messy; best for children ages 5 and older. Register starting Saturday, Feb. 26 at calendar.fdlpl.org.
  • Drawing Lessons with Katie - Monday, March 21 at 4 p.m. in the McLane Room: Drop in as Miss Katie helps kids ages 5 and older to draw wild African animals. No registration needed; best for kids ages 5 and older.
  • Storytimes continue: Drop in with your young ones for Storytime in the Storytime Room! Programs scheduled weekly include:
    • Baby Storytime: Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. for children ages 0-12 months and their caregivers.
    • Toddler Storytime: Mondays at 9:30 a.m. for toddlers ages 1-2 and their caregivers.
    • Preschool Storytime: Mondays at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 3-5 and their caregivers
  • March 1 to 13 - Hieroglyphic Scavenger Hunt: Visit the Children’s Room to discover the secret message of the hieroglyphics and win a prize!
  • March 14 to 31 - Find the Crayons Scavenger Hunt: The crayons have quit and are hiding in the Children’s Room. Can you find them all?

Teenagers, meanwhile, can enjoy several events during March:

  • Friday, March 4 at 1 p.m. in the McLane Room: Join Smartphone Photography 101 to prepare for the Teen Photo Contest and a chance to win a $250 Visa gift card. Get tips and tricks on smartphone photography with Laura Schneider, a photographer and instructor at Moraine Park Technical College. Please bring your own device. Registration required; spots now available at calendar.fdlpl.org. Space is limited.
  • Monday, March 28 at 2 p.m. in the MidStates Room: Celebrate spring break by creating your own masterpiece during Canvas Creations. Registration required; registration opens Monday, March 14 at 9 a.m. Space is limited.
  • Teen Book Bags: Teens also may register for the monthly Book with a Snack: Teen Book Bags. Register from March 6 to 12 to pick up the book boxes between March 20 to 26.
