Not sure how to use a computer or smartphone? Not comfortable with surfing the web?

A series of classes at the Fond du Lac Public Library during January will help.

During “Everything You Wanted to Know About Smartphones But Were Afraid to Ask,” learn how to use these highly mobile computers that have become an important part of daily life. Library staff will offer a beginner’s guide to smartphones on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. in the Midstates Room at the library.

Register by visiting calendar.fdlpl.org, or call our Reference Desk at 920-322-3930.

Individuals seeking help with full-size computers may stop in to the Fond du Lac Public Library on most Wednesdays at 11 a.m. to noon during January in the McLane Room.

Two of those sessions — Jan. 5 and Jan. 19 — will offer drop-in assistance with no registration necessary; stop in any time to let FDLPL’s reference staff answer any computer questions.

Registration will be required for two upcoming staff-led training opportunities:

  • On Jan. 12, learn how to use Microsoft Suite, which includes such popular programs as Word and Excel.
  • On Jan. 26, receive an overview of Google Suite, which offers such commonly used apps as Google Docs.

To participate in any of the registration-required programs, call the library’s Reference Desk at 920-322-3930. Laptops are available to use if you don't have your own device.

For any of these in-person programs, masks will be required for participants.
