Love to make, but not sure how the Idea Studio at the Fond du Lac Public Library can help? Get to know the library’s makerspace better during a series of July events.

On Monday, July 18 at 6 p.m., Take a Turn through the Idea Studio for an in-depth introduction to the department and all of its equipment. Staff will walk you through the Idea Studio, show all of its equipment & what the Idea Studio has to offer. Projects will be ready to go for you to see everything in action.

For a more casual introduction, meet Idea Studio staff during the Night Market in downtown Fond du Lac. The Idea Studio will have a booth at this evening event from 5 to 8 p.m. Try fun activities while visiting with staff at the booth. No registration required.

For individuals ready to create, two events are scheduled:

  • Thursday, July 7 at 6 p.m. — Let’s Make 3-D Printed Summer Charms: Get badged on the Prusa i3 MK3S printers and make miniature keepsakes that show off some solar flair! Register online at; space is limited.
  • Tuesday, July 12 at 6 p.m. — Pepper’s Ghost Illusion with Carvey CNC Router: Ever been to the Haunted Mansion at a Disney park and wondered how the mansion got so haunted? Discover the secrets of the Imagineers’ ghostly projections while learning how to use the Carvey CNC Router. Get badged for use on the machine & related design software.  Then, cut and assemble a stand capable of producing the Pepper’s Ghost Illusion on a small-scale. Materials provided. Register for either event at; space is limited.
  • Wednesday, July 27 at 6 p.m. — FDL Area Press Club (for printmakers): Create with Sintra Board: Learn how to use Sintra Board, a type of PVC board frequently used for sign-making and displays, that can also be used as a printmaking medium. See informal demonstrations and try it out free with our supplies. Best for adults & teens age 13 and older; no registration required.

Group badging opportunities also are available at the Idea Studio. Check for sessions as they become available.

The Idea Studio is open for walk-in visits Monday through Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday from 3 to 6 p.m., and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
