After closing for the month of January, the Fond du Lac Public Library’s east-side branch has reopened at 1139 E. Johnson St., just around the corner from its previous home.

The Allen J. Buechel Branch is open weekdays from 2 to 6 p.m., and weekends from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The new storefront is located between GNC and FreshFit Cafe, just east of Festival Foods.

The branch closed temporarily to allow library staff to move books, DVDs, and more into a newly built-out space within the plaza. This new location provides more convenient access to the branch since it is now closer to other shops and the grocery store. The new location also includes a book drop that is protected from the weather inside a vestibule, enabling library users to drop off materials without standing in the cold, rain or snow.

The move was necessitated by the owners of the Johnson Crossing plaza, where a new clinic for Froedert & the Medical College of Wisconsin will be constructed in and around the space formerly occupied by the Buechel Branch.

The Buechel Branch continues to offer the same great to-go collection of materials with best-sellers and new releases. The branch also will continue to offer a sizable children’s corner, as well as large print, movies, cookbooks, magazines, audiobooks and more. The branch will continue to be a convenient location to pick up holds placed online at fdlpl.org.
