FDLPL hosting "Hope on the Block" community needs pantry
The Fond du Lac Public Library is hosting the community's first "Hope on the Block" pantry case.
Hope on the Block is a new community collaboration aimed at providing for the basic needs of individuals who rely on support agencies, particularly during late night and early morning hours when other resources are not available. Community partners include the Fond du Lac Public Library, Fond du Lac Fire & Rescue, Simply Sold with Brooke & Amy - Adashun Jones, Salvation Army, Sustain Fond du Lac, M.W. Tighe Roofing Contractors, and the Fond du Lac County Health Department.
According to Hope on the Block, "People that are receiving help from support agencies are often lacking essential resources when those agencies are not open. Hope on the Block aims to reduce that gap and give people a place to go to get the essentials they need to make it through the time when other support agencies are not open. Our after hours pantries are filled with essentials such as: toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, hand sanitizer, tissues and more."
The Hope on the Block pantry case is located outside the north entrance to the Fond du Lac Public Library, and is available when the library is closed.
According to Hope on the Block's website, "Our Hope on the Block pantries are not for your regular grocery shopping needs. If you are not truly in need of essential items to make it through until other assistance organizations are available, then please leave these items for those who are."
