Find new-to-you crafting supplies during one of several art events in August at the library
Love arts and crafts? August is supersized with extra activities to enjoy before the summer comes to a close, including the library’s first-ever Craft Swap event late in the month.
First, though, join the Fond du Lac Public Library on Monday, Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. for its quirkiest art program, Bad Art Night. Bring an enthusiasm for art, even if you do not have a talent for it. We’ll celebrate the mediocre, the tacky, and the campy while featuring a new style of tasteless art each month. For August, participants will Stamp It Up. All materials provided; register at calendar.fdlpl.org.
Then, on Monday, Aug. 8, join one of the library’s most popular adult programs: the Evening Craft Class. The program, which begins at 6 p.m. in the McLane Room, will invite participants to make their own pottery toadstools. Paint it any way you prefer, and place it in a garden to see who shows up. All supplies are provided; Registration begins two weeks in advance of the program and is required; register by visiting calendar.fdlpl.org. Limited space is available for this popular program.
Have crafting supplies you no longer need? It’s a common problem, and in August the Fond du Lac Public Library will help.
Drop off unwanted but still good-to-use craft supplies from Aug. 4 to 18 at the library during regular library hours. Then, visit our first-ever Craft Swap event Saturday, Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon to swap them out with new-to-you supplies in the McLane Room.
Meanwhile, Good-Natured Crafts returns Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. in the Idea Studio. Create a Lavender Wand: a beautiful and elegant traditional craft. Register at calendar.fdlpl.org; space will be limited.
