Sing your heart out, create your masterpiece, or discover your voice during Summer Reading at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Through mid-August, the Fond du Lac Public Library invites users of all ages to “Find Your Voice!,” the theme of Summer Reading @ FDLPL 2023.

All summer, the library will offer plenty to enjoy, including an art camp for kids of all ages.

Held at the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, the Art Camp will be held Wednesdays during July: July 5, 12, 19, and 26 at 11 a.m. Each week a different activity will be offered for each age group, ranging from pasta jewelry to bubble wrap painting to raised salt painting. Registration is appreciated but not required at calendar.fdlpl.org.

Kids also can express themselves during July’s Sing-Along Movie series. Drop in on three Fridays this month: July 7 to sing along with Frozen, July 14 to join the singing during Trolls: World Tour, and July 28 for Encanto. No registration required.

Kids, meanwhile, have tons of activities to join to keep them from getting bored. Other highlights include a bookmark contest for all ages ( through Aug. 13), a writer’s workshop for youth and teens ages 8+ (July 6 & 20), a Wednesday Addams-themed escape room for teens (July 13-14), Touch-A-Truck (July 25), and more. Storytimes also continue through July with Baby Storytime on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m., Toddler Storytime on Mondays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m., and Preschool Storytime Mondays at 10:30 a.m.  For a complete list of summer activities for youth, visit calendar.fdlpl.org.

Adults can flex their love of art with crafty activities all summer. Join Bad Art Night (July 17, & Aug. 7) to make whimsical and fun creations. Or, register for Evening Craft Class (July 10, Aug. 14) for cute, decorative items for your home. In Good-Natured Crafts (July 25, Aug. 22), create all-natural crafts you will appreciate. Other Summer Reading-themed activities include an opportunity to become more confident in speaking and singing (July 18) and a crash course in bullet journaling (Aug. 1).

Meanwhile, through Aug. 13, kids, teens, and adults may read their favorite books to earn prizes. Returning in 2023 is an online logging option: users can hop on the Fond du Lac Public Library’s online portal, Beanstack, to record their minutes of reading. A link to Beanstack is available at fdlpl.org/summer2023. Participation is easy, and earns readers instant rewards along the way as well as a chance at a grand prize at the end of the summer. All reading counts, and reading aloud counts for both the reader and the listener. Instant prizes for adults include the popular Faris Popcorn.
