History at Home will recall the history of the Greek community in Fond du Lac

Fond du Lac Public Library’s monthly History at Home program will return virtually for October as it recalls the history of the Greek community in Fond du Lac and the creation of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
The program is free; no registration required. It will be offered via Facebook Live, premiering Thursday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. It will continue to be available via Facebook and the library’s YouTube page thereafter.
Julie Phillips of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church will give a history of how Holy Trinity came to be and the Greek immigrants who helped pioneer the community. She will also talk about how some of Holy Trinity’s fund-raisers evolved, such as Dial A Baklava and Greek Fest.
Phillips has been a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church all of her life. She serves as president of Holy Utility's Ladies Philoptochos Society and is a member of their choir. Longtime community members may recall her parents, Steve and Virginia Phillips, who owned Phillips Cafe in downtown Fond du Lac.
History at Home focuses on stories about the area's past every third Thursday of the month. The programs are free; no registration required. Many History at Home programs are captured on video and shared on the library's YouTube channel. That link can be found at fdlpl.org/miss-program.
