In January, show off your creative chops in the Fond du Lac Public Library's all-ages Junk Sculpture Contest!
Here's how you can participate:
- Any Fond du Lac County resident may enter.
- Participants can pick up a “junk kit” at Children’s Desk from Thursday, January 2nd to Sunday, January 12th.
- Participants may only use the supplies provided in their “junk kit”, but can use their own adhesives, paints, and markers. Participants may also use adhesives, paints, and markers available in FDLPL’s Idea Studio, but may not add additional “junk” to their kits. For Idea Studio hours, please visit fdlpl.org/ideastudio.
- Submissions will be judged on quality of composition, creativity, & originality.
- Submissions must fit on the 8 inch x 8 inch piece of paper provided in the “junk kit” and cannot exceed 18 inches in height.
- Extra consideration will be given to entries that represent bigfoot, yeti, or nature-focused themes.
- All submissions must be your original artwork. No AI generated artwork will be accepted or considered.
- Participants are limited to one submission per person.
- Do not put your name anywhere on your design when you submit it! All entries will be judged anonymously. Your name only goes on the entry form.
- Keep a photo copy of the submission in case of an unforeseen accident/disaster.
- There are no restrictions on theme or content; however, the library reserves the right to not accept works that may be unsuitable for a public environment. Please keep it PG-13 or tamer!
- Entries need to include their artwork, the submitter’s name, phone number and/or email address, and age in order to be considered.
- Submission of an entry in the contest grants the Fond du Lac Public Library the right to display, distribute and/or publish the entry and name of the participants in the library, on the internet, and in print publications for promotional or informational purposes.
- The creator retains the right of ownership of any submission.
- The judging panel may consist of library staff and/or community members.
- Collaborative pieces are accepted; however, only a single prize will be awarded.
- Deadline for submitting entries is Sunday, February 3rd at 4:00 p.m. (when the library closes)
- Submissions are judged in age categories, including the following: Youth (0-11), Teen (12-18) and Adult (19+).
- Submit entries to any Library Assistance Desk, along with a completed entry form.
