Learn about the life and history of area artist Lester Schwartz during History at Home
Artist Lester Schwartz enjoyed a life that included painting in Bali to working for the Works Progress Administration to a 33-year period as the Artist in Residence at Ripon College. Learn more about his life and his work during History at Home at the Fond du Lac Public Library.
Daughter Tanya Schwartz Roeper will visit the library on Thursday, April 13 at 6 p.m. to speak in the McLane Room. She will discuss how, as the son of Russian immigrants, he grew up in Manitowoc before his interest in art took him around the world. She also will touch on how he founded the art department at Ripon College, as well as his years post-retirement.
This event is free and open to the public.
History at Home programs focus on stories about the area's past every month. Programs are held on the second Thursday of every month at 6 pm in the McLane Room. The programs are free; no registration is necessary to attend. Those who are unable to attend in person may watch live via Facebook at facebook.com/FDLPL. Many History at Home programs also are captured on video and shared on the library's YouTube channel.
