Let's Go Downtown Jul 18
Remember Christmas shopping at Huber Brothers? What about the bubbler in front of Penneys? How about the soda fountains and five-and-dimes in downtown Fond du Lac?
Local historian Tracy Reinhardt will present Let’s Go Downtown, a trip back in time to 1966, when the local business district was in its retail heyday. The programs at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The programs are free; no registration required.
Note: “Let’s Go Downtown” replaces the originally scheduled July History at Home program, which was on the USS Indianapolis disaster.
Reinhardt was born and raised in Fond du Lac County and has been collecting stories of family and early Fond du Lac history for more than 40 years. She is library director/archivist for the Fond du Lac County Historical Society.
