With about 400 on the payroll, the City of Fond du Lac is a major employer. Doing the work to recruit, hire and help those people are the professionals in the human resources department. Associate HR Manager Jackie Braatz will talk about how that works at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Community Chat program at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 4. The program is free; no registration required.

Braatz will discuss the myriad cultures, departments and divisions in the city. She’ll share details about the jobs she fills and the required fields of study. The HR department recruits and hires for jobs in criminal justice, accounting, library science, fire and paramedic, engineering and more. There will be plenty of time for discussion.

Braatz has been with the city HR department for 13 years. She has more than 25 years’ experience in human resources, including positions at Fives Giddings & Lewis and Sartori Foods. Braatz has an associate degree from Moraine Park Technical College in leadership development and a certificate in HR management.

Community Chat programs give residents opportunities to hear directly from local government and nonprofit organizations. Representatives share information about costs, goals, accomplishments and more. The informal programs will take place every first Thursday of the month.
