The Fond du Lac Public Library is offering a new tool for patrons to better understand whether the library has reached its capacity.

The library currently is allowing 50 visitors in the building at one time. A new system, SafeSpace by SenSource, will continually update a display just inside the south entrance off the parking lot with the number of patrons within the library.

If the library has not reached its capacity, the display will be green with an “open door” symbol. It also will note how many patrons are in the library, and how many may enter.

If the library has reached its capacity, the display will be red with a “stop sign” symbol in the middle.

The goal of the new system is to ensure the safety of patrons and staff of the Fond du Lac Public Library while providing greater transparency regarding whether the library is nearing, or at, its capacity.

If the library reaches its capacity, patrons still may enjoy the collections from the Fond du Lac Public Library by either utilizing the curbside pick-up option or going to www.fdlpl.org and clicking on the  “Download books and audio” button.
