Maker and artist Pat Arneson presents his exhibit, Noise is Life, at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Langdon Divers Gallery August 7 to September 3. The public is invited to a reception 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, August 8, at the gallery. Refreshments will be served. The reception is free; no registration required.

Arneson, of Theresa, has worked in myriad media – from advanced audiovisual and pyrotechnical materials to basic pencil. He said his exhibit explores the inherent artifacts of paint, canvas and printing plate to engage concepts of signal and noise: what information is important, and what often is overlooked.

“I wanted to blow up the small-scale processes of printing into large monotypes that explore the interaction of texture and color,” Arneson said. “I am always focused on the forgotten, overlooked and ubiquitous, reimagining ‘noise’ as ‘life.’”

The library’s gallery is a showcase for local and regional artists. The space is curated by volunteer artist Mel Kolstad, who can be contacted at mel@kolstad.net.
