Find “Your Place at the Table” during October in the Langdon Divers Community Gallery.

This exhibit, "Your Place at the Table: A Celebration of Culinary-Inspired Artistry,” showcases a medley of artwork inspired by food and created by third- through fifth-graders from across the Fond du Lac School District. Their pieces will be on display Wednesday, Oct. 11 through Tuesday, Oct. 31 in the gallery at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Originating from eight schools, students who participated in Design Lab at the Fond du Lac Public Library conveyed their culinary inspirations into vibrant artistic expressions for this exhibit. Visitors to the exhibit will be treated to a visual feast through which the ingenuity of these young minds is the star, illuminating their unique interpretations and reflections on food.

“We are incredibly excited to unveil ‘Your Place at the Table.’ This exhibit is a testament to the boundless creativity and insight of our young students, bringing lessons related to or inspired by food to visual life,” said Chris Durkin, program manager for Design Lab. “The uniqueness of this exhibit lies in the exploration of everyday subjects like food through the imaginative eyes of our students, offering a refreshing and delightful perspective to all who experience it."

A reception will not be held for this exhibit, and the pieces on display are not for sale. This allows the focus to remain on the artistic expression and the messages conveyed by these young artists.

Design Lab at the library’s Idea Studio is part of a nationwide collaboration intended to deliver high quality, equitable, and engaging arts integrated science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) programming to traditionally repressed/ignored populations of third- through fifth-graders in the Fond du Lac School District. Sessions are throughout the summer as well as during the school year. Learn more about Design Lab at fdlpl.org/designlab.

The Langdon Divers Community Gallery is open seven days a week, whenever the Fond du Lac Public Library is open at 32 Sheboygan St. The gallery may be found off the atrium at the south entrance to the Main Library.
