September is Library Card Sign-up Month
Something to consider: In a county of about 100,000, more than 27,000 people have accounts at the Fond du Lac Public Library, a number that grows by more than 200 every month.
These people know that their local library is a vibrant community center. Along with free books, audiobooks, movies, music, magazines and digital e-books and e-audiobooks, the library has a long list of cool equipment available for borrowing (including tech toys and electronics). It has the Idea Studio, makerspace with equipment to use for free. An art gallery. Free databases for genealogy research, business marketing and lots more. Online tutorials and study guides. And a dynamic schedule of free programs on everything from using a laser cutter to Storytimes to local history.
September is Library Card Sign-up Month. Stop by either the Main Library or FDLPL Express branch, near Festival Foods, to open an account, no charge. It takes just a few minutes. Bring proof of current address (like a driver’s license or state ID). Kids under 16 require a parent’s signature. And, through September, replace a lost library card for free.
