Support your child’s love of learning during storytime at the Fond du Lac Public Library, which returns in January with a new variety of storytime options.

Starting Monday, Jan. 8, Family Storytime will be held Mondays and Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. on the lower level of the library (typically in the Storytime Room). Family Storytime is best for children ages 1 to 3, but all are welcome to join as library staff share stories, rhymes and more. This program is designed to develop early literacy skills and encourage a love of reading.

Have a child who hasn’t yet reached their first birthday? Join the new Babies and Books program, scheduled for Mondays at 11 a.m. starting Jan. 8, in the Storytime Room. Intended for pre-walkers and caregivers, library staff will sing songs, enjoy rhymes, explore books, and have a relaxing playtime with an opportunity for babies and caregivers to connect.

Both programs will continue through the winter months.

Through Feb. 29: Join Fond du Lac Winter Reads for fun activities, prizes, and more. Log your minutes of reading online or on paper cards at the library to earn chances to win. Learn more at

  • Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 1:30 p.m. in the McLane Room: Drop in to Homeschool Art. This month, explore the earliest form of art: cave paintings.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 4:30 p.m. in the McLane Room: Become paleontologists and make dinosaur fossils during Crafty Kids. Best for ages 4+; no registration required.
  • Monday, Jan. 15 at 4:30 p.m. in the Mid-States Room: Do experiments that will have you asking, “Is it science or magic?” during STEAM Night for youth. No registration required.
  • Monday, Jan. 22 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.: Youth ages 5-12 will learn to paint a wintry fox during Paint-Along. Registration opens Jan. 8 at
  • Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 4:30 p.m. in the McLane Room: Visit with a trained therapy dog and practice reading skills during Paws to R.E.A.D. No registration needed.

Teens, meanwhile, have plenty planned as well:

  • Sunday, Jan. 14 through Saturday, Jan. 20: Register for a Browser’s Cache bag, complete with a checked-out book and more, that can be picked up later in the month. Theme: Keep It PG.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 4:30 p.m. in the Mid-States: Drop into Anime Afternoon to see a few episodes of anime and enjoy a few snacks. Cosplay is welcome.
  • Thursday, Jan. 4 at 4 p.m. in the Teen Area at the library: Discover Dungeons & Dragons during Ready, Set, Roleplay! Bring your own Level 1 D&D 5E character, or choose one supplied by the library. Bring your own dice if you wish. For teens in grades 6-12.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 4:30 p.m. in the Mid-States Room: Create Aluminum Foil Monoprints during Full STEAM Ahead. No registration required.
