Some of the most compelling books I’ve picked up in the last few years were the ones that allowed me to see the world through a different perspective and experience life in someone else's shoes.

For example, I felt a sense of overwhelming anxiety and secondhand panic when Tom Daley described stepping up to the end of the diving platform at the olympic stage. I felt absolute, uninhibited bliss when Megan Rapinoe described winning the world cup with her teammates after fighting so hard for equal pay and recognition in the sports world.

Books can be transformative tools. And they can transport us. Like Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop teaches, they can also be Windows, Mirrors, and Sliding Glass Doors, opening up the opportunity for readers to get a taste of their neighbors’ experiences.

Feel free to explore some of my recent favorites and start seeing life through different eyes.
