Eligibility

The free Design Lab Program is for students in 3rd to 5th grade who go to school in the Fond du Lac School District and 80% of the students who join need to identify as low income.

You might fit this if:

  • You get free or reduced lunch at school
  • Your family gets help from any of these programs: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or FoodShare in Wisconsin, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or Wisconsin Works (W-2) Cash Assistance in Wisconsin
  • Your family’s taxable income for last year did not go over 150 percent of the poverty level amount – check this link to see what that means

This program is not about who applies first. We look at each application to decide who might have the highest need for the program. Students who may not usually get to join STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) programs and Design Thinking learning experiences will be chosen first.

If you have questions or are ready to send in your application, just email us at designlab@fdlpl.org.
