Fond du Lac Public Library employs about 45 people, full-time and part-time. Part-time positions range from 12 to 30 hours per week. The educational requirements for our positions range from less than a high school education to a master’s in Library Science. All of our positions require basic computer literacy and excellent customer service capabilities. Any future openings will be posted in the library and listed on this web page. Library Page/Shelver
If you enjoy organizing things and making them look nice, this position is for you. Library Pages are responsible for shelving all returned materials, retrieving items from the book drop, and checking in materials. Keeping books in order, making the shelves look nice, and straightening things around the library are the primary duties of this position. No direct customer service is required.
Library Pages are part of the Circulation Department, take direction from the Circulation Team Leader and report to the Assistant Director of Operations. The ability to alphabetize, follow directions, work independently, and bend/stretch/reach are essential.
- Rate of pay: Grade A, Step 1 ($18.55 per hour in 2026)
- Schedule: Daytime, evening, and weekend hours may be required. Typically, 12-25 hours per week, including every other weekend. Work schedule is typically published at least 2 weeks in advance. Position does not include paid time off, holiday pay, or sick time.

Library Clerk
Join our crew of friendly and cheerful people at the Fond du Lac Public Library. Library Clerks welcome people to the Library, answer account related questions, and ensure materials flow quickly and efficiently through the Library. Clerks help customers open library accounts, update contact information, and assist people with checking out materials.
Library Clerks are part of the Circulation Department, take direction form the Circulation Team Specialist and report to the Assistant Library Director. Fundamental knowledge of computers, the ability to alphabetize, follow directions, work independently, and bend/stretch/reach are essential.
- Rate of pay: Grade C, Step 1 ($22.10 per hour in 2026)
- Schedule: Typically 12-25 hours per week, including every other weekend. Averages 19.5 hours per week annually. Schedule may include daytime, evening, and weekend hours. Position does not include paid time off, holiday pay, or sick time.
