Award-winning wildlife photographer Bob Haase will share stories and hundreds of photos when he speaks at the Friends of the Fond du Lac Public Library’s annual meeting.
The event will be held Wednesday, May 7 at 6 p.m. in the McLane Room at the library. A brief business meeting will precede the talk; refreshments will be provided.
During his talk, Haase will share about 200 unique images featuring birds, wildlife, and the outdoors.
“Most, but not all of the images are from Wisconsin, and include subjects like fox, white deer, prairie chickens, owls and other birds of prey, song birds, waterfowl, and a lot more. Also included are nightscapes such as milky ways and auroras, and other scenic images,” Haase said. “I will explain little things about them that people wouldn’t know; I have stories to go along with each one of my photos.”
Even people who have seen him give a similar talk in the past will discover something new, Haase explained: he updates the presentation regularly with new photos he has taken.
Haase shoots approximately 60,000 to 80,000 photos each year, he estimates, capturing rare and special moments.
“”Photographers see things others don’t, because if we don’t see things, we can’t photograph them,” he said.
Haase has been a photographer for many years, with experience ranging from wedding photography to industrial photography. He served as an instructional media specialist for Moraine Park Technical College for nearly 25 years; he also was a member of Wisconsin Professional Photographers Association, Professional Photographers of America, and served on the board of the Wisconsin Industrial Photographers Association.
Now retired, he focuses on his passion for wildlife and outdoor photography.
The May 6 program will encourage people to get outside, become active, and enjoy the beauty around them.
